When to Visit Legoland for Halloween

Usually starting the first weekend of October and lasting until the end of October, Legoland will be decorated for Halloween. There are also many different Halloween activities in the park throughout the month. Though the days that Legoland is generally open in October happen to be on the weekends, there are some other options during the fall.

First of all, the Danish fall break or “efterårsferie” occurs in the middle of October. This is a time when many children are off of school for a week. Legoland is ready for them with opening hours that entire week. Also, in 2021, if you are unable to visit Legoland for Halloween, you still have the opportunity to visit during all of the weekends in November. However, if you can squeeze in a visit to Legoland Billund for Halloween, I would highly recommend it! 😊 Visit their calendar for more specific opening hours: HERE.

Halloween Decorations at Legoland Billund

To get visitors in the Halloween mood, Legoland Billund has tons of decorations all around the park for this spooky holiday.

Pumpkin Decorations at Legoland Billund at Halloween

First, you can’t go far without seeing pumpkins everywhere. Legoland does a fine job of bringing the farm feeling to this fun amusement park. You can find hay bales with pumpkins in every section of the park. Of course, it wouldn’t be Legoland if there weren’t some fun Halloween LEGO bricks, figures and heads added into the decorations. If you love the feeling of the great outdoors, try staying at the Legoland Holiday Village on your trip to Billund!

The Many Jack-o-Lanterns at Legoland Billund

As you walk into the Legoland amusement park, you will find a giant jack-o-lantern made out of LEGO bricks. Not only is this a cool sight to see, but it is also a great place to take a photo! Visitors can step inside the pumpkin and peer over the top. If Halloween “photo” cards were something people sent out, this would be the best place to have your Halloween picture taken!

There isn’t just one, giant jack-o-lantern that you can climb into at Legoland. In fact, the LEGOTOP, Legoland’s spinning tower is also decorated to look like a giant jack-o-lantern and can be seen from outside of the Legoland amusement park.

Giant Halloween Spider and Haunted House at Legoland

Another fun Halloween LEGO that you can find at Legoland Billund is the giant spider. This colorful spider is larger than some cars and watches visitors as they stroll past the Haunted House. Learn all about Legoland Billund HERE.

The Haunted House is also a fun attraction that is actually open all year round. Though there may be a ride for bigger kids and adults at the end of your tour of the Haunted House, you can also go inside just to see the fun ghosts and spooky rooms.

A LEGO building area outside of the Haunted House at Legoland contains a scary scene of another haunted house with spooky train and many bats and ghosts. Children and adults can add to this scene with the LEGO bricks available in the bins or they can also create their own designs. Blood Red Lake and Face painting at Pirate Land in Legoland

After leaving the Haunted House, you walk by the Pirate Land and the blood-red lake. It was an eerie place to eat our lunch of fish and chips from Captain Rogers Restaurant, but it helped to remind us that it wasn’t just any day at Legoland! Pirate Land is also where you can find the face painting station where little boys and girls can turn into goblins, ghouls and other Halloween creatures.

Legoland’s Spooky, Halloween Castle

A trip to the Knights’ Kingdom also proves to be a great place to experience Halloween at Legoland. Here, you can find the spider’s giant webs on the front of the castle. Inside the walls of the castle, friendly witches fill up the courtyard with their many pumpkins and spider friends. All of the other areas in the park have Halloween decorations, as well!

Brick-or-Treat Event at Legoland Billund at Halloween

Though the decorations around Legoland are enough to get a person in the holiday mood, Legoland’s “Brick-or-Treat” event can really add something special to your experience during Halloween at Legoland Billund.

Offered only during a couple of weekends in October, Brick-or-Treat is Legoland’s version of trick-or-treat. Near the entrance to the park, you will find a booth where you can purchase a bag and schedule a time to get treats at all 5 of the spooky booths around the park. Each of the 5 booths have a Halloween theme with a monster or scary creature handing out the treats.

In order to cut down the wait time, Legoland has visitors schedule a time for the brick-or-treating, which we found to be very helpful during out time. My boys also liked that they weren’t just given candy, but they also got a drink, snacks, and a small, Lego set during Brick-or-Treat at Legoland in Billund.

Fun with Pumpkins during Halloween at Legoland Billund

Since pumpkins are all around the Legoland park, it should come as no surprise that they have other opportunities for having fun with pumpkins, as well. First, at the giant jack-o-lantern where I mentioned is a great photo spot, you can take part in the pumpkin building competition. Show your talents with LEGO building and create your own, unique pumpkin for a chance to win a LEGO set.

Also, if you want to take a Halloween souvenir home with you, there are pumpkins for sale just inside the entrance. You can also take a tour of the Legoland Miniland to see how many pumpkins and Halloween scenes you can find!

Overall Thoughts of Halloween at Legoland Billund

It is no surprise that we love going to Legoland anytime. We especially think that visiting Legoland at Halloween is really a lot of fun! Getting to celebrate one of our favorite holidays surrounded by creative, LEGO figures and fun rides is really a treat for us. We always look forward to the month of October. However, one thing we still have yet to experience is the Legoland fireworks! You will find these on Halloween night. Also, we have heard great things about their “haunted” Lego Castle Hotel. Is it worth going to Legoland Billund at Halloween?

For my honest review of Halloween at Legoland Billund, I have to say, “go”! If you have younger children who are a bit unsure about rollercoasters, Legoland is a great place to introduce them to amusement parks. There is so much for children. The lines always have a play area in the middle so that children have something to do. Also, for every larger roller coaster, you will find just as many middle-sized coasters and kiddie rides to please kids of all ages.

Going to Legoland at Halloween is also great for the younger kids. That is because you won’t find anything that is too scary. Legoland was made for children, so all of the attractions and decorations for Halloween have younger children in mind.
