Lalandia: Scandinavia’s Largest Indoor Water Park

Ever since we moved to Denmark in 2016, we have wanted to go to Lalandia, indoor tropical water park near Legoland Billund. My boys had heard lots of wonderful reviews about it from other kids at school, and since it was located in Billund, it wasn’t very far from where we lived. Did I also mention that Lalandia is considered Scandinavia’s largest water park? We were ready for some fun in the water in the “badeland”.

We made our first trip one weekend in May. The weather was a bit rainy at times, but you don’t need to have nice weather at Lalandia, since almost all of the fun is inside the massive building.

This post is sponsored by Lalandia in Billund. I want to thank them for allowing my family to tour this amazing building with lots of fun in the Aquadome. All thoughts and comments are my own. The Aquadome

Lalandia has Scandinavia’s best water park, The Aquadome, because it caters to the needs of big and small. Everyone in your family will have a great time sliding down a variety of slides, riding the waves, swimming in an inside or outside pool, relaxing in a sauna or jacuzzi or exploring the cave pool. There is so much to experience at Aquadome that you’ll want to visit it again and again!

Here is a list of where you can eat in the Aquadome:

What to Do in the Aquadome at Lalandia in Billund, Denmark

As soon as you set foot in the Aquadome, you feel that you are in a tropical paradise with tiki huts, palm trees and even elephants. Whether you head straight for one of the pools, slides, or sauna, you are sure to have a fun experience in the water!

Aqua Splash Playground

My family really enjoyed our time at Lalandia. The boys’ eyes were drawn right away to the giant Aqua Splash Playground that was located in the center of the Aquadome. This place was awesome and also allowed parents the chance to play along with their children. We had a great time trying to avoid all the water sprays coming from the structure, and the slides were just the perfect speed and height for my little one!

We were even waiting at the top of the structure to ride a slide and were soaked with the giant bucket that was at the very top. That was a fun surprise that seemed to get us very excited about what else we would experience.

Slides on the Splash Playground

The Aqua Splash Playground at Lalandia had four slides to choose from. Two were perfect for my children, and the other two were better suited for toddlers and smaller children. My boys loved shooting the water cannons and dumping the small buckets of water. This was, by far, our favorite area of the Aquadome at Lalandia!

Children’s Pool and Slides

Once my boys were feeling confident on the slides from the Aqua Splash Playground, they decided to try the ones over at theย Children’s Pool. This pool was divided into two sections. One was a shallow area with a smaller playground that seemed to fit babies and toddlers perfectly, but the other section was just for slides.

Here, you could find 4 different slides that my boys tried over and over again! The water at the end of these slides was also at a good height so that the boys weren’t afraid to come off of the slides by themselves!

Bigger Slides

At this point in time, my boys were getting a bit adventurous, and when I suggested that we give the bigger slides a try, I wasn’t met with much resistance. We headed over to the far side of the Aquadome, which was opposite of the food court.

Single and Double Tube Slides

This is where we found the ends of the Single Tube and Double Tube slides, and took a double tube to try out these slides.

We had a lot of fun on these two slides, because we were able to go down at the same time. My younger son was a bit unsure of these, but my older son loved them and went many more times with his dad!

Twister, Tornado and Turbo Racer Slides at Lalandia

The Twister was another slide that allowed two people to go down it at the same time. If you wanted a really unique experience, you could try the Tornado slide that allowed up to four people to go down this slide on a giant raft. You could see the circular tube of this slide from the outside of Lalandia.

If you were into speed, you could try the new slide called the Turbo Racer that gave you the feeling of free-falling straight down! You could even have your speed recorded to see if you beat the fastest time!!

Riding the Wild River at Lalandia in Billund

One of the wildest and coolest slides I have ever been on had to have been the Wild River at Lalandia!! This slide started off inside, but it was mostly outside. It didn’t have any loops or drops, but I thought it was so neat because we were riding it when it was relatively cold outside.

I got such an adrenaline rush of the thought of being on a slide in near 50 degree F / 10 degrees C. It really made going in the jacuzzi pool afterwards much more satisfying.

Check out this video from TubeRides to get the full effect of each slide!

Lazy River

After a bit of time riding the slides, my younger son suggested that we try out the Lazy River, which was a fun stream of water that surrounded the Aqua Splash Playground. Each of the boys sat in the middle of a tube, which their dad and I hung onto their tubes. It was a nice, relaxing little break from the slides to chat and enjoy each other’s companies. We had a lot of laughs on this Lazy River.

Spa Pool

We also loved spending time in the Indoor/Outdoor Spa Pool, which was very warm like a jacuzzi, but since part of it was outside where the air temperature was 50F/10C, it felt perfect. Little brother and I hung out in there while big brother and dad went down the Wild River slide multiple times. It was a very nice and relaxing spot.

Cave Pool

One very unique pool that was somewhat hidden from sight was the Cave Pool. This was the perfect place to bring your goggles, since there were windows that allowed you to view an aquarium filled with fish. This pool made you feel that you weren’t at Lalandia, but that you were on a snorkeling expedition. It also had fun red lighting to give you an experience like no other at Lalandia.

Activity Pool and Wave Pool

Another fun place to play in the water in the Aquadome at Lalandia was at the Activity Pool. This pool had lily pads you could attempt to walk on with other activities to make an adventure out of your family-fun time!

One of our most favorite spots within the Aquadome had to be the Wave Pool. We loved trying to ride the waves. Big brother wanted to swim to the deepest part with dad while little brother and I had fun sitting in the shallow area as the waves beat against us. We had more than a few giggles in that part of Lalandia.

Though the Aquadome is one of the main reasons why people come to visit Lalandia in Billund, I will forever take with me the great memories of smiles, laughter and fun that I got to experience with my children when they were young at Lalandia!

Relaxation

If relaxation is more of what you are after, you are sure to find it in one of Lalandia’s many saunas. Children are also welcome!

Changing Facilities and Other Extras

The changing facilities are very clean and using the lockers is very easy with the Lalandia wristband. This electronic band helps guests secure their things in a locker and also allows them to buy food without having to bring their money inside. Just scan your wristband at the Food Court and pay when you leave the Aquadome.

There are also portable play cribs on wheels for those parents needing a place for their baby as they change their clothes or shower. Being on wheels allows visitors to move baby very easily, and it is also a great spot for the little one to get a nap. Swim diapers for baby can be bought in the Aquadome at Lalandia Billund if guests forget to pack some.

Other Areas within Lalandia

If you are eager to get a bit more active while at Lalandia, you may want to spend some time at the fitness center or even enjoy a game with friends in the sports arena.

Outside the building of Lalandia in Billund, you will also find the Adventure Tower where you can climb high above the parking lot to get a better view of the area around you, or you can pet one of the many animals that they have behind Lalandia in the animal area.ย

Those needing a bit more downtime can enjoy some time in the Wellness Spa for a gentle massage, body scrub or facial.

Here is a list of the other areas to explore at Lalandia:ย

      • Adventure Tower
      • Sports Arena
      • Wellness Spa
      • Fitness Center
      • Animal Area (Behind Lalandia)

Overall Impressions

My family came to Lalandia for the day to try out the Aquadome, and we had a fantastic time. We know now why so many Danes have recommended this indoor water park to our family, and we are glad to have had the chance to experience it for ourselves. Aquadome in Lalandia in Billund offers a great mixture of slides, pools and play areas that make it perfect for visitors of all ages. We spent a few hours there, and we would love to come back again soon.

If there is anything that I would suggest to Lalandia in Billund with regards to the Aquadome, it would be that there weren’t enough tubes for the Twister. It seemed that there was only two tubes, and the line for people wanting to use them was too long. This just gave us more time on the Double Tube slide and the Wild River, so we weren’t too upset about not getting to try the Twister! We will definitely make that a goal on our next visit!

We would recommend this place to anyone especially to families wanting to have fun together in a unique environment!
